Framing is ether:
-
-A “caisse americane” or “museum box”; this is where the print is mounted on aluminum and then a custom wood frame is built around the the image leaving a small gap between the image and the frame. This creates the illusion that the image is floating in the frame. A front glass protects it.
-
-The same as above only instead of glass the image is sandwiched between two sheets of plexiglass, often called “diasec”, before being mounted in the caisse americane” or “museum box”. As the image is protected by plexiglass no glass is used in the frame.
